Terms
Terms of Service
1. Using Recall Ladder
- You may use Recall Ladder to study the study sets your plan gives you access to.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Recall Ladder or create an account.
- You're responsible for your account and for keeping access to your email address secure, because we sign you in with links sent to it.
2. Plans and payment
- Free: selected study sets in full, part of the other official sets, and part of each Community Library set.
- Learner: every official study set and every Community Library set, billed monthly.
- Creator: Learner access plus creating your own study sets, with a monthly allowance of AI credits.
- Billing: paid plans renew automatically each month until you cancel. Payments are processed by Stripe. You can manage or cancel your plan from Manage billing on the plans page.
- Cancelling: your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and then isn't renewed. We don't refund partial months, except where the law requires it.
- Price changes: we'll email you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your plan, so you can cancel first if you wish.
3. Study content and results
- No guarantee of results. Study sets help you learn and prepare, but can't guarantee an exam or test result.
- Educational only. Sets on health, medicine, finance, law and safety are for learning, not professional advice. Don't rely on them in place of a qualified professional.
- No affiliation. Recall Ladder is independent and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic or any certification or exam body named in a set.
- Corrections. We work to keep content accurate but can't promise it's free of errors. Tell us about a problem through the contact page.
4. Practice: flashcards, written answers and voice
- Flashcards are self-rated practice and don't change your progress, reviews or XP.
- Written answers are checked first by exact rules. When those can't decide, either you compare your answer with the model answer, or, when automatic checking is on, the question, its model answer and your answer are sent to our service provider Anthropic, whose AI model judges the meaning. A written answer checked as correct counts on your ladder like a correct multiple-choice answer. Automatic results can be wrong; you can report a grading problem.
- Voice input uses your browser's speech recognition, which the browser's maker may process on its own servers under its own terms. We don't receive your audio. Voice input doesn't score pronunciation.
5. Acceptable use
Don't misuse the Service: don't try to access content or accounts you're not entitled to, interfere with the Service, copy or scrape study content in bulk, share paid access with others, use set creation or AI generation to extract or copy our study sets, generate content in bulk for use outside Recall Ladder, or get around credit or rate limits, or use the Service to break the law. We may suspend or close accounts that do.
6. Intellectual property
The Service and its official study content belong to us or our licensors. Your plan gives you a personal, non-transferable license to use them, and the Community Library sets you can study, for your own study. Answers you write remain yours; you let us use grading reports and messages you send us to improve the content.
7. Study sets you create
- Ownership. Study sets, text and pictures you create or upload (“your content”) remain yours.
- License to us. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process (for example resize and convert pictures), display and transmit your content only to operate the Service for you, for example to show your sets to you, check your answers and keep backups. We don't use your private content to create content for other users or to train AI models. We show your content to other people only when you share it with them, or when you list it in the Community Library.
- Sharing. You can share a set you created with people you choose by email; they can study it, not edit it, until you stop sharing. You're responsible for who you share with. They see the published copy (your later edits reach them when you publish again), your email address and any message you add. Their progress is theirs; you don't see it. Don't use sharing to send unwanted email: invitations are limited, can't contain links, and we may restrict sharing for accounts that misuse it.
- Community Library. When the Community Library is open, you can submit a study set you created to it. Each time you submit a set, or changes to a listed set, you confirm that you created it or have the right to share it publicly. A person reviews every submission and every change before it's public. We may decline, restrict or remove a listing at any time, and we tell you why when we decline one. While a set is listed, anyone can see its title, description and library details and your creator profile, and signed-in learners can study it under their plan (Free accounts get part of it). For as long as a set is listed, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, copy, display, adapt for display (for example for different screens and in search results) and let learners study it. You can withdraw a listing at any time: it stops being public and learners can no longer study it, but they keep their own progress. We may keep the records we need for moderation, copyright complaints and legal claims. A listed set that includes AI-drafted content is labeled as made with AI assistance.
- Your creator profile. Your display name, handle and bio are shown publicly with your listed sets. They can't contain links or contact details or suggest that you speak for Recall Ladder, and a person reviews changes to them.
- Community sets are written by their creators. They aren't official Recall Ladder content. We review them before they're listed, but we don't check every fact in them or guarantee that they're accurate or complete.
- Your responsibility. You confirm you have the rights to everything you upload (including pictures of people, who may need to agree), and that your content is accurate to the best of your knowledge. Sets you create aren't reviewed or certified by us; a set on health, law, finance or safety is for learning only.
- Not allowed. Content that is illegal; infringes someone's copyright, trademark or privacy; contains other people's personal data without permission; is sexual content involving minors; harasses, threatens or promotes hatred or violence; is spam or advertising; contains malware or tries to break the Service; or copies Recall Ladder's own study sets.
- Reports and removal. People you share with, and learners of a listed set, can report it to us; people you invite can report an invitation. A person reviews each report. We may restrict a set (the people you shared it with and its Community Library learners lose access, and it can't be shared or listed again until we lift the restriction), end invitations, or remove content that breaks these terms or the law, or that we're legally required to remove. If several reports about your sets are upheld, sharing, set creation and Community Library submissions on your account are paused, and your listed sets stop being public, until a person has reviewed it. We tell you by email when we act, and you can reply to ask us to look again.
8. AI-generated content
If you use AI generation, the subject and instructions you enter are sent to our AI provider to produce draft lessons and questions. AI output can be wrong, out of date or similar to existing material. Generated content is a draft: you must review it before publishing (each AI-written concept has to be marked reviewed first), and you're responsible for what you publish. To the extent we have any rights in AI output generated for you, we assign them to you. AI can also draw illustrations for your lessons; like generated text, a drawing is a suggestion you review (including its description for people using screen readers) before it's used, and it can contain mistakes. We don't generate photographs or pictures of real people.
9. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Recall Ladder infringes your copyright, email support@somexai.com with: your contact details; the work you believe is infringed; where the material is on Recall Ladder; a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. We'll respond and, where appropriate, remove or disable the material. This applies to everything on Recall Ladder, including Community Library sets. In appropriate circumstances, we suspend or close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe.
Our designated agent for notices of claimed infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act is: Copyright Agent, SomexAI Applications Group, LLC, 121 Salamander Dr., Garner, NC 27529; telephone 208-217-2024; email copyright@somexai.com. Notices sent to the agent should include the details listed above.
If your content was removed after a notice and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can send the agent a counter-notification. Unless the person who complained tells us they have started a court action, we restore the content 10 to 14 business days after we receive a valid counter-notification.
10. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what we collect, why, and how to delete it.
11. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time on the account page. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. If we end a paid plan for any other reason, we'll refund the unused part of the period you've paid for. Deleting your account also deletes the study sets you created, their published copies, their Community Library listings and your creator profile, and the pictures you uploaded.
12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise it will always be available or error-free.
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer where you live.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new date here, and email you about material changes at least 14 days before they take effect.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Wake County, North Carolina, except where the law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
